2003-03-11 ~ 3:34 p.m. ~ My weekend update
I had a wonderful weekend. I didn’t had to work on Saturday and enjoyed the morning playing games with V boy. At the same time, I was waiting for the air-con service man to come to my house to clean the unit. I was prepared to stay home alone, and wasn’t afraid. But my mom didn’t like the idea of me at home alone, with the service man. And she has to go out. So she asked my brother to stay home with me to wait for the service man to come. I didn’t quite like the idea because he probably had plans with his gf. I know they are getting really serious and seem to spend every waking hour together, and my schedule probably disrupted their weekend plans. He called his gf to come over to my place. Anyway, V boy had to sleep soon around 2pm and the service man said he would be late, around 3 plus. I then spend the afternoon quilting the pillow case. I’m very pleased with myself because I did a lot of work and completed the quilting in the afternoon and early evening. The service man did came at nearly 3:45pm when it was pouring. They spent about 45 minutes to clean, dust and wash my air-con. Now it’s spanking clean and COLD…previously it was not cold and I had to turn on both the fan and air-con blasting at myself to sleep. Still it wasn’t cold. Now, I don’t even need the fan. Just the air-con at 23 degrees and it’s cold! So wonderful. I spend the rest of my Saturday afternoon cleaning my room and scrubbing the toilet. Then I had a early dinner and continued sewing the pillow case. On Sunday, I had to go out with my mother as I had to pick a gift for ML. She is getting her marriage registered on Saturday and it came a little shocking to me, but nevertheless, it was a good thing. We wanted to pick something that she could keep for a long time and I thought a penchant would be nice. I trusted that my mother has good taste and asked her to go along with me on the way to her usual grocery shopping. We went to a few shops and found nothing really suitable within our budget. ML is very petite, she can’t wear anything that is too huge. So I kept looking for really small items and small items always cost more expensive, maybe because it is difficult to make. I gave up and called Tracy and decided we would just give her cash. Then I went home and took a wonderful 2 hr nap. It was close to dinner time when I woke, and I’m so close to completing ML’s pillow case. I finally finished after dinner and watched Michael Jackson interview (his version). It was so boring. I went back to sleep. XXX I went on a date yesterday. Not really a date. I knew Hacker for a long long time, probably at least 9 years now. We were school mates back in poly days and he was in the electrical faculty. We kept in touch all these years and I came to know that he was single (on Valentine’s day) because I sent him a picture message to wish him happy V day. So we message back and forth and decided we had to catch up in real person some day. The opportunity came when we both love watching movies and decided to catch a show together. We originally wanted to watch Catch Me If You Can, but it’s off screen already, and whatever screening schedules they had, it was very late. So we decided to watch Dare Devil together. I realized I have not met Hacker for at least 5 years. The last time when he saw me was during my short stint at the shopping mall as a sales girl. He came to visit and we went for a dinner break together. I do not think he will change that much. I could still recognize him yesterday, which was really good. I didn’t ask him if I had change much, I supposed I didn’t want to hear I looked older. He did looked older. We hit it off right away like old time friends, chatting and making our way to the cinema. I bought him drinks as he paid for my ticket. I wanted to return him the money but Hacker is a generous person as I know him. I also gave him a t-shirt that I bought an extra one in Canada. We entered the cinema and continued talking about work and my desire to find working experience elsewhere other than this tiny island. He was surprised that I wanted to move away. I told him it was all for a chance to experience a different kind of lifestyle and working experience altogether. Dare devil wasn’t really fantastic. At times I thought I was watching spider man. The way he jumps and leaps over buildings is similar to Spider man. At times it went a little boring. We said good bye after the movie, he walked me to the bus-stop and saw that I got on the bus before he left. Wonderful day, but I’m just a little tired.
