2003-03-16 ~ 12:46 a.m. ~ A walk with me

Did I mentioned that I started a walking regime recently? Not much, but just something good for a start. I walked 3 times for the past 2 weeks, and I’m not going to put myself down to that mere 3 times because between work, laundry, and housework, I am proud that I could walk for a minimum of 1 hour every time. That’s because the whole track takes 1 hour to complete. The other day, I was particularly very happy with my walk. The sun was almost completely down and the breeze brought along the scent of burnt grass. The moon was very clear and bright up in the sky and I can’t help but smile while walking. I started my walk late because I only reach home around 6:30pm earliest and by the time I’m on the “home run”, not much people are on the tracks and nobody saw me smile.

My wishlist is to get a pair of good running shoes, so that when I’ve built enough endurance and stamina, I could go for a short jog. I just wanted an exercise regime that gives me longer attention span and so that I would not always feel so tired. Come to think of it, summer days has it pros. I’ll be sitting at home, doing nothing and still sweating like a pig. How can one pig out in such weather? That’s when I think most people will slim down.

Hacker and I are corresponding via email pretty much on a regular basis. I tell him of my wish to migrate, further up north, and finding new experiences in life. He feels that I’m so much more confident now than when I was still in school. It’s just good to have an old friend knows you better all over again.

I feel that there are more new things that would happen in my work plans. We had a meeting last Friday and we’re already talking about organizing another new course in May. If things really work out, I’m heading to China. Hear that!! China!! Only for a short work trip, but I’m not sure if it would materialize. But my Deputy Director is keen on the whole idea. I am actually very excited as well because there will be a lot to learn. I’m particularly interested to brush up my Mandarin and knowing all the technicalities and differences of province, county, district, party leader, government representative. I think all in all, it will be a good experience.

Tomorrow, I hope to wake up at 7am for another walk.
