2003-03-24 ~ 10:03 a.m. ~ Dreaming of Log Cabin

I had a wonderful weekend. Last week was kind of rough. The closing of financial year crept in and we had to complete all our billing and invoicing. I also had 2 sessions of a foreign trainer programme. I was so ready for weekend by Friday. On Saturday, I woke up at 9am and played just a few hours with V boy before I went out to town. I was in fact thinking if I should go out at all, with the virus around, but I really wanted to run some errands and reward myself.

I went to the quilt shop and registered for a private log cabin class. I am very excited because I really wanted to learn how to make a quilt blanket for a long long time but just never had the opportunity to do so. Time constraints and all. Something struck me last week and I really wanted to seize the day. So I went to ask, and told them I couldn’t make it on a weekly basis because I had to work on alternate Saturdays. I was thinking of making either a Valentine’s Heart blanket (with red, pink hearts all over and a white border) or a log cabin. In the end, I chose the log cabin for a start because I will get to learn rotary cutting as well as piecing all the patterns with my machine. It will be fast. I have decided to make a pink and perhaps blue log cabin for my first piece. Then I’ll make a christmas log cabin blanket later for my second project. The teacher’s schedule looks full in April and so I’m being placed on 17 May. I can’t wait! I knew I was thinking of log cabin while I slept on Saturday. I will be commissioning the quilt to the hand quilters in Philippines because I think hand quilting will be very much delicate. It is also an opportunity to give some work to ladies in villages.

I went to my grandma’s place later and my auntie has bought a new sewing machine. We started to test-run the machine. I think I still like my Bernina better because it was very quiet and sturdy, and I’m used to how it works. It was exciting though because their machine has many different stitches. For mine, it is quite simple and I like it that way.

On Sunday, I spent most of the day just lazing and playing games with V boy. I think we played for at least 8 hours!! I felt a little guilty but thought it was my reward for working so hard in the week. I cleaned my room while downloading new modules. I am also completing my Ohio Start pattern cushion pillow. I need to find a new image server to put up my pics.
