2003-04-30 ~ 4:44 p.m. ~ Long Weekend

I was supposed to have a date on Monday, but the guy didn’t contact me and so I took it as OFF. I’m not upset at all. Funny thing was he was insistent on meeting 2 months back. I refuse to give him my phone number, I told him to email me. So we actually fixed a date 2 weeks before, and I thought maybe we can decide the location later, I didn’t get any email and so Monday evening became free. I scheduled for my facial on Tuesday and pushed it forward instead. Anyway, no big deal because I wasn’t really interested in him. OK Maybe I am picky. He told me he didn’t really had a girl friend all his life and I, being so straight forward probed him, “What’s didn’t really? Is it yes or no?” Then he admitted he never had a girlfriend. But that wasn’t exactly the reason why I didn’t want to go. I just felt he was a serious guy. Very serious. The reason why I thought I should go is because Adrian has been telling me I need to go out to get a FREE dinner and stepping into the dating circle again. It was true.

So, my course went pretty well, though the networking didn’t work out well. We’re talking about mingling with vice-presidents, CEOs here. Not that I’m afraid of them, I didn’t had any much common topics with them. They are business-minded, I’m just delighted that I’m out of office learning new things. On the first night, We were given a mini homework to prepare, and had to introduce ourselves in mandarin. We also had to talk about our work and designation. I went home that night and tried some translation website to see if I could find the exact terms for some working terminologies. I got some of them figured out and the next morning, I also called my colleague for help. I passed the introduction. The 2nd day was rather intensive, not only did we cover the geographical, and political understanding of the country, but also many more business/banking terminologies. We also had a test at the end of the day. I passed, and scored 87 out of 100, not bad at all, for someone who has not much knowledge with banking terms. Of course, the scholar of our class was a banker. After that, we also had a wine/beer tasting sample, which I skipped most of it because I don’t think I can hold liquor. I did tasted a tiny bit of a Chinese alcohol, but it tasted like some medicine we rub on our legs when we had a sprain, it tasted awful to me. Overall, I’m really happy with the course, I felt I learnt a lot, but whether I’m able to retain most of the information is another thing, especially when it comes to banking stuff.

I will have a long weekend! I’m taking a day’s off on Friday and I will have Thursday to Sunday off!!

Goodie!
