2003-05-20 ~ 9:35 a.m. ~ Dinner went well

The promotion dinner on Friday was enjoyable. Luckily one of the girls I know better accompanied me throughout. I become terribly shy at functions like this without my buddies. And the worst thing was we were arranged to seat all over the place, and can't choose where we want to seat. I was actually supposed to seat with 3 directors and wow, I skipped that table and went to sit in another table. But all was OK. That table was kind of full too, it didn't matter. They had a chinese banquet style dinner, with 8 dishes, and served free flow of red and white wine, soft drinks and chinese tea. My colleague ordered a glass of white wine for me and I tasted it for the first time in my life. I have to say, I don't really like white wine, it was better when it was chilled, but taste really more bitter when it's not cold. I only had a few sips, because it wasn't really my type of beverage. Not sweet at all! They had a nice 5 men band, playing conga, classical guitars and percussions. I think it would be called philippino styled band. It was embarrassing because they could only play certain styles of music, but yet they received dedications of many other songs. But I think they still did a good job to play whatever they can, or replace the songs with some of their own hits. I think the live band helps to soften the ambience and the food certainly taste much better when there is live music. On the whole, I had quite a nice time, and I am thankful to the girl who kept me company throughout.

Saturday morning, I did not have to work, so I woke up and wanting to login to the internet. The network was down and I wasn’t sure if I accidentally changed my password or not. So I called up the service provider, the line was so hard to get through. Finally perseverance paid off and I got to speak to a real person and not the machine! The guy told me the network was down and I should try again in another 1-2 hours time, I also got him to double check my password for me to make sure it wasn’t tampered with. I had no problems waiting, and spent a good deal of time in the morning stitching. My whole morning was gone, and I only login around noon. I will be terminating my internet service soon and will be sharing the cable with my brother. He did sums for me and it is going to be great savings for me. Good!! We will start in July as my brother can only fix it up in June.

Yesterday I went shopping after work to return my books, and borrowed new books. I also went to look at the bedsheets, the nice funky pink ones was gone…but I still found some sweet pink ones. I bought 2 sets, and they are 100% cotton. I’ll change them this weekend. Hah, fancy spending my first bonus on bedsheets.

I have been bombarded with some continuous emails from a neurotic. I told Adrian about it and I have no desire to return emails to neurotic as to why I do not reply him after a couple few emails and after he sent me his picture. There were many reasons, and most importantly I didn’t feel we clicked at all. Neurotic has been pestering me, wanting to find out why I do not email, and I thought about it, it will in turn generate a lot of other emails in return, as to Why this, why that, so I just cut him off totally. Sounds cruel, but necessary.
