2003-11-07 ~ 3:11 p.m. ~ Birth rates and work worries
So I got to know that one of my team mate is pregnant with her first child. Instead of being happy, I am worried if the bulk of her work, and more importantly, that tedious project of hers would be arrowed to me instead. I hope not, but such things are hard to tell. And even if it does land on my plate, can I say no? Probably not. So there is no point for me to worry, because there is nothing I can control or do. Unless I find a new job… And then it made me think of the conversation I had with Greg earlier, that the birth rates in this country is very low, because nobody really wants to get pregnant. There is so much to worry about such as, would your company get an excuse and fire you when you’re pregnant, or will you have enough money for your child, etc. But I do realize that there are still many kids and babies around, so I can’t really see how it impacts our birth rate. Greg said he sees so many families here. If I was pregnant, would my co-workers shun me and see me as the one who gave them more work due to my condition? These are things that inevitably pop into my head. This same pregnant colleague was also the one who gave me wrong information about my job duty and made me wake up at 4:45am one day, coming to work, only to realize I wasn’t supposed to be scheduled on duty. Perhaps she was already pregnant then and wasn’t feeling well. I understand. I really never blamed her anyway. I’m stepping off the soapbox.
